PHILOSOPHY

Inman Park United Methodist Church believes that marriage is a sacred covenant and is open to non-members for their marriage ceremony. The joining together of two consenting adults in holy matrimony is an event blessed by God and the community. As an inclusive Church, Inman Park United Methodist Church acknowledges and respects religious diversity, as well as proclaiming the equal rights for all individuals to marry the person of their choice (in accordance with State Laws). Therefore, our doors are open to those of different faith traditions as well as same gender couples. Any ordained and credentialed minister from a denomination may perform the marriage (online ordinations are not accepted); however, IPUMC’s minister is available.

FACILITY

Inman Park United Methodist Church’s Sanctuary will seat up to 200 guests. It is furnished with original pulpit furniture and pews and is graced with two large and several smaller stained glass windows.

The Sanctuary has both an organ and piano for musical accompaniment, and a sound system is available for pre-recorded music. The Hurt Room is available as the Bride’s Room.

Inman Park  Church is located one-half block from the Trolley Barn, a popular reception venue.

USE OF FACILITY

Inman Park United Methodist Church is both a sacred and historic place. The church asks that this be kept in mind when planning music and decorations for the wedding ceremony. We have many items for use without charge, including candelabras and banners. Decoration, moving of items in the sanctuary, and music should be discussed with the Wedding Coordinator.

A wedding ceremony conducted in the church is not just a social occasion performed within the walls of a religious building. It is a service of worship. Prayers are offered and solemn vows are made. It is expected that those present, and most particularly all of the wedding party, will participate in the spirit of sincere worship. Like all services of worship a wedding ceremony is designed to glorify God. Because we see weddings as important religious services, anything that adds to the reverence of the occasion is proper and anything that detracts from the spiritual nature of the service is discouraged. In keeping with this, no alcoholic beverages or mind altering substances will be permitted on church property.
